Botox Aftercare: What to Do and What to Avoid

Temecula Botox Aftercare: What to Do and What to Avoid

April 17, 20253 min read

You just got Botox in Temecula — now what? While the procedure is quick and minimally invasive, what you do in the hours and days afterward can make a big difference in how long your results last and how well the product works.

At LeVogue Med Spa in Temecula, we want your Botox to look natural and last as long as possible. Here's your aftercare playbook.

First 4–6 Hours After Botox

Stay upright
Avoid lying down or bending over for at least 4–6 hours. This helps prevent the Botox from migrating to unwanted areas.

Use your facial muscles
Gently raising your eyebrows or smiling helps activate the Botox in the target areas. This encourages even distribution.

🚫 Don’t touch or massage the area
Rubbing or applying pressure can shift the product. Skip facials, eyebrow waxing, or even resting your face in your hands.

First 24 Hours After Botox

Avoid makeup (if possible)
Especially if needles were used, applying makeup too soon can introduce bacteria and increase the risk of irritation or bruising.

🚫 Skip the gym
Exercise raises your heart rate and body temperature, which can cause Botox to break down faster. Wait at least 24 hours before intense activity.

🚫 No alcohol
Alcohol thins your blood and can increase bruising at injection sites.

🚫 Avoid heat and saunas
Hot showers, steam rooms, or sunbathing can reduce the product’s effectiveness. Keep your skin cool and calm.

Days 2–7: Let It Settle

Be patient
It can take up to 7 days to see full results — sometimes even 10. Don’t judge the outcome too soon.

Hydrate and nourish your skin
Use gentle skincare with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, peptides, and SPF to protect and support your skin.

Sleep on your back
It’s a small tweak that helps avoid pressure on the treated areas while you sleep.

🚫 No facial treatments
Hold off on microneedling, peels, or laser treatments for at least a week unless approved by your provider.

FAQs: Temecula Botox Aftercare

Can I sleep after getting Botox?

Yes, but avoid lying down for 4–6 hours post-treatment. After that, try sleeping on your back to avoid pressure on your face.

How long after Botox can I wash my face?

You can gently cleanse your face that evening, but avoid scrubbing or applying heavy pressure. Use a mild, non-active cleanser.

Can I go out in the sun after Botox?

It’s best to avoid direct sun for at least 24–48 hours. Heat and UV exposure can reduce the longevity of your treatment.

What happens if I accidentally touch my face?

If it’s a light touch, don’t stress. But avoid rubbing or massaging the area within the first day after treatment.

When can I get a facial after Botox?

Wait at least 7–10 days to allow the product to settle fully. Always consult your injector before scheduling skin treatments.
